CSTEP Program Director Vacancy

July 25, 2017

The Research Foundation for SUNY, a private, not-for-profit corporation, invites internal applicants for the position of Program Director (Budget Title: Principal Investigator) to administer the NYS grant-funded Collegiate Science & Technology Entry Program (CSTEP). CSTEP serves 135 under-represented minority and low-income students pursuing careers in STEM fields and NYS licensed professions.

The Director will serve as liaison with NYS Department of Education and manage all state and campus performance reports; oversee annual budgets totaling more than $250,000; and supervise the CSTEP staff. In addition to the administrative function, the Director will, along with the program counselor, advise a caseload of CSTEP students; work with the staff to provide grant-specific programming, seminars, field trips, and activities; and collaborate with a wide range of campus and community stakeholders to support student academic success and career development.

The successful candidate must have a master’s degree in STEM, Education, or a related field as well as experience writing, administering, and reporting for grants.  Prior experience managing budgets and supervising professional staff are also required. Preferred qualifications include experience with: STEP and/or CSTEP grants; under-represented and/or low-income students; academic and career program planning; advising college students; and teaching classes and/or presenting workshops.

This Research Foundation for SUNY position is contingent upon continued funding of the CSTEP grant at SUNY Potsdam. The current grant runs through June 2020, but annual program funding level is determined through the NYS budget process. Renewal of appointment is subject to The Research Foundation for SUNY policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines, and the availability of annual funding. The Research Foundation is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer.

To be considered for this position, submit a RF employment application, resume, and contact information for two references to Sean Partridge (128 Sisson Hall) by August 1, 2017.
