The research proposal “Applied Certificate Research Project” submitted by Dr. Alan Hersker, Ian Sherk, Department of Anthropology, has been reviewed by the Institutional Review Board and by the Provost of the college. The researcher and the use of human subjects in that research have been approved as of April 25, 2018.

The research proposal “First Destination Survey” submitted by Karen Kus, Julie Johnson, Emma Nicoletti and Brittany Verjes-Rosario, Department of Career Services, has been reviewed by the Institutional Review Board and by the Provost of the college. The researcher and the use of human subjects in that research have been approved as of April 13, 2018.

The research proposal “Preservice and Novice Teacher Considerations of Graphic Novels Serving as Quality Literacy” submitted by Joanne Stiles, Department of Adolescent Education, has been reviewed by the Institutional Review Board and by the Provost of the college. The researcher and the use of human subjects in that research have been approved as of April 13, 2018.

The research proposal “Student Privacy and Libraries” submitted by Esta Tovstiadi, Jenica Rogers, Lauren Jackson-Beck, Jessica Ramey, Department of SUNY Potsdam Libraries has been reviewed by the Institutional Review Board.  It has been determined that the use of human subjects in that research meets the criteria of exempt research on April 17, 2018. This exemption is applicable for a period of one year.

The research proposal “The Media's effects on Immigration” submitted by Dr. Susan Stebbins Rebecca Barrett, Department of Anthropology has been reviewed by the Institutional Review Board. It has been determined that the use of human subjects in that research meets the criteria of exempt research on April 13, 2018. This exemption is applicable for a period of one year.

The research proposal “Impact of Retail Store Closures on Consumer Behavior” submitted by Dr. Savita Hanspal and Aiden Vanden Vossenberg, Department of Business Administration, has been reviewed by the Institutional Review Board and by the Provost of the college. The researcher and the use of human subjects in that research have been approved as of April 5, 2018.

The research proposal “Peer Member Satisfaction and Needs Assessment of Step-by-Step, Inc.” submitted by Dr. Nancy Lewis and Students, Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice, has been reviewed by the Institutional Review Board and by the Provost of the college. The researcher and the use of human subjects in that research have been approved as of April 5, 2018.

The research proposal “Evaluating the level of financial literacy among students and alumni of SUNY Potsdam” submitted by Dr. Joshua LaFave, Department of Business Administration has been reviewed by the Institutional Review Board.  It has been determined that the use of human subjects in that research meets the criteria of exempt research on April 17, 2018. This exemption is applicable for a period of one year.

The research proposal “College in Jail: Identifying Areas of Success and Areas of Growth” submitted by Dr. Nancy Lewis and students, Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice, has been reviewed by the Institutional Review Board and by the Provost of the college. The researcher and the use of human subjects in that research have been approved as of April 5, 2018.

The research proposal “A Survey of Employee-Reported School Mental Health Quality” submitted by Dr. Brent Crow, Dr. Patricia Anafi, Dr. James Fryer and Danielle Smith, Department of Community Health, has been reviewed by the Institutional Review Board and by the Provost of the college. The researcher and the use of human subjects in that research have been approved as of April 5, 2018.

The research proposal “SUNY Potsdam Students' Perceptions of Health Needs: An Assessment” submitted by Julia Rapczynski and Megan Snow, Department of Student Affairs, has been reviewed by the Institutional Review Board and by the Provost of the college. The researcher and the use of human subjects in that research have been approved as of April 5, 2018.

The research proposal “Choice Projects and Student Learning” submitted by Dr. Kathleen Valentine, Katherine Ames and Carly Watson, Department of CILSE, has been reviewed by the Institutional Review Board and by the Provost of the college. The researcher and the use of human subjects in that research have been approved as of April 2, 2018.

The Institutional Review Board has extended the approval of extension of the project “A Study of the Spanish Language in Familial Conversations” submitted by Dr. Lydia Rodriguez, Alexis Donnelly, Department of Anthropology. This approval of extension has been extended through January 24, 2018.

Researchers are reminded that State and Federal laws require that all projects involving human subjects be reviewed. Researchers may contact Kathy LaMay at 267-2131 for application materials.
