The Department of Teacher Education invites applications for a full-time (10-month) tenure-track Assistant Professor to support its Secondary Social Studies Education programs, beginning either January 2024 or August 2024.
With a focus on enhancing equity and inclusion in the field and in practice, this position offers a unique opportunity to engage in interdisciplinary and classroom-based teacher education research and pre-service teacher program development. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting curricula and teaching undergraduate and graduate courses for SUNY Potsdam’s secondary social studies teacher education programs.
Required qualifications include an earned doctorate degree in secondary social studies education or a closely related field from an accredited institution (ABD applicants will be considered); at least 3 years of successful teaching within a middle or high school classroom setting; a demonstrated capacity for teaching and mentoring students from diverse backgrounds; and the ability to conduct research appropriate to the rank of Assistant Professor.
