SUNY Potsdam Graduates Sarah Camhi ’16 & Caitlin Kobylak ’19 Have Works Chosen for WorldPride NYC Student Art Show at SUNY Global

Works by two recent SUNY Potsdam graduates will be featured in the upcoming WorldPride NYC Student Art Show, hosted at the SUNY Global Center in New York City.

Sarah Camhi ’16 and Caitlin Kobylak ’19 both had their works chosen for the show, which features art and artists that represent and celebrate LGBTQI+ inclusion and discourse. The free show will run from June 1 to July 1 at the SUNY Global Center, located at 116 East 55th St. in Manhattan.

Kobylak, who just graduated with their Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in art studio, had four paintings selected for the exhibition, including their pieces, “The High Priestess,” “The Magician,” “The Star” and “The Hierophant.”

Camhi’s black and white portrait, titled “Abadeer,” was also chosen. Camhi earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in art studio, and went on to earn her master’s degree in educational technology and curriculum development at the University at Albany. Since graduating, she has taught graphic art and studio arts at the middle and secondary levels. Camhi is currently teaching digital photography at South Side High School in Rockville Centre, N.Y.

Pictured in her chosen image is Michael Patten ’18 & ’19, who earned their BFA in art studio, before recently completing a Master of Science in Teaching degree in childhood education, also at SUNY Potsdam.

“The Star” is one of four paintings by Caitlin Kobylak ’19 which were chosen for the WorldPride NYC Student Art Show.

The show will be held in conjunction with WorldPride NYC. The global celebration of LGBTQI+ issues, for the first time in its 20-year history, will take place in the United States this June. The month-long event will coincide with NYC Pride and the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising, with more than 3 million people expected to attend any one of the 50 events throughout the month.
