Teaching a WAYS 301 Course

WAYS 301 Design Guidelines Submitting a proposal to the Potsdam Pathways Curriculum Committee to teach a WAYS course for the first time is the culmination of a process beginning a year prior to first offering the class. That year involves professional development in skills pedagogy, consultation with skills experts, the appropriate WAYS Coordinator, and fellow WAYS faculty, as well as support in course preparation and approval.

Jessica Petersen '11

Wearing a wig, ’80s makeup and rocking out on a keytar in the middle of the Atlantic, Jessica Petersen’s first full-time job out of college was anything but ordinary. As a musician on numerous Carnival cruise ships, Petersen has traveled all over the world and has played the keys for everything from jazz to disco and classic rock to ’90s music.

Fabric of Learning

Weaving together academic research and applied learning experiences, Emily Bailey ’24 and Annabelle Kahle ’26 have been examining the history of homespun garment manufacturing, and using historic tools of the trade to build costumes that their ancestors would have worn.
