Effective today, The State University of New York at Potsdam is now a 100 percent tobacco-free campus. Beginning immediately, no tobacco use will be allowed within buildings or on grounds owned or leased by the College.

The SUNY Potsdam campus was unusually quiet this summer, when the College normally would have been welcoming back hundreds of alumni, emeriti, families and friends for Reunion Weekend. While the campus couldn’t celebrate milestone class years with its graduates in person this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, SUNY Potsdam alumni across the globe were able to engage in new ways through Virtual Reunion Week 2020.

Two faculty members in SUNY Potsdam’s Department of Geology have been awarded a major National Science Foundation grant to work with undergraduates on their exploration of Earth’s carbon cycle across history. Dr. Page Quinton and Dr. Michael Rygel were awarded $370,113 from the NSF’s Research in Undergraduate Institutions program to provide funding for as many as 10 SUNY Potsdam geology majors to complete research under their mentorship. 

The Athletics Department is accepting on-line applications for an Assistant Men’s Lacrosse Coach to assist the Head Coach with all facets of running a successful NCAA Division III Men’s Lacrosse Program:  Practice planning and implementation; strategic recruiting, scouting, supervision of team travel, budget planning, marketing, monitoring academic progress and success of student athletes.

SUNY Potsdam honored 21 longtime employees who retired during the 2019-20 academic year. Together, the faculty and staff members had collectively dedicated an incredible 461 years of service to the institution throughout their careers. “We are proud to recognize faculty and staff who have collectively devoted centuries of service to SUNY Potsdam. The campus is truly fortunate to have such dedicated, hard-working employees who every day strive to make a difference in the lives of our students,” said President Dr. Kristin G. Esterberg.

The SUNY Potsdam Law Enforcement Training Institute recently received a donated vehicle to use in the police academy’s training programs, thanks to the generosity of a local dealership.  

North Country Science & Technology Entry Program Hosts 30th Annual Summer Camp at SUNY Potsdam

SUNY Potsdam is proud to announce its new Bachelor of Fine Arts degree program in art education, leading to New York State teaching certification for Prekindergarten to Grade 12. The rigorous BFA program will prepare students for creative and fulfilling careers in art education.
