The B.M. in Music Business at The Crane School of Music combines musical training with the business, entrepreneurial, and professional skills needed to build a career in today's music industry. Develop as both a musician and a music industry professional while gaining hands-on experience in areas such as music production, recording, marketing, entrepreneurship, and artist development.

The B.M. in Music Business allows you to continue developing as a musician while preparing for a career in the industry. As a Bachelor of Music student, you'll receive private instruction on your primary instrument or voice as part of your degree program.
You'll study alongside performers, composers, educators, and other musicians at Crane, bringing your own artistic experience into your understanding of the business that supports music.

Create, Record and Produce
Students in our Audio Technology classes have opportunities to work in the Performing Arts Center's professional recording studio, record ensembles and bands, and work on independent projects. On-campus interns can also gain experience recording and livestreaming performances and events.
Whether you're interested in recording, music production, artist development, or live events, you'll have opportunities to connect classroom learning with creative projects and real-world experience.
Learn the Business by Doing
Build real-world experience through required internships, industry projects, and hands-on opportunities to connect with music professionals.
Music Business students at Crane engage with industry leaders through guest visits, Music Business Roundtables, and the Executives-in-Residence program. Select Music Business students are invited to participate in the NAMM Practicum, a competitive, faculty-selected opportunity to gain firsthand experience with music companies and professionals at the NAMM Show. Through their internships, students apply what they learn in the classroom, build professional networks, and explore career paths aligned with their interests.
