Every effort will be made to keep the commencement ceremony outside, even if there is inclement weather. We will make a decision on whether to move Commencement indoors no later than Noon on Thursday, May 14, in the event of severe or extreme weather (such as lightning). If the indoor plan is implemented, an email will be sent to all graduates, and an announcement will be made in local media outlets and on this website.
If Commencement is moved indoors, SUNY Potsdam will hold two indoor ceremonies at Hosmer Hall, one at 10 a.m. and the other at 3 p.m.
Indoor Ceremony Logistics
Hosmer Hall is the site for the indoor commencement ceremony.
Ceremonies will start at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
All Master’s and Bachelor’s candidates majoring in Crane/Music and Education will be in the 3 p.m. ceremony. All other majors will be participating in the 10 a.m. ceremony.
Guests should enter Hosmer via the main entrance near the circle.
Livestreaming for guests without tickets will take place in the Knowles Conference Center (also the location for the outdoor plan). There will also be post-ceremony receptions in the Knowles Conference Center.
Information for Students
- The Washburn Rehearsal room (Bishop C143) will be the location for the student line-up. Students should enter Crane via the main entrance at least 30 minutes before their designated ceremony time.

- Stage Party will robe and lineup in Bishop C119.
Parking
Guests parking will be available in lots 9 and 17. Accessible parking will be available in lot 6, with golf carts available to shuttle guests to the ceremony location.
