SUNY Potsdam and New York Chiropractic College Announce Articulated Program Agreements

June 2, 2021

Partnership Creates Four Seamless Pathways for Students to Complete Degrees at SUNY Potsdam & New York Chiropractic College

Tanya Hewitt, chair of SUNY Potsdam’s Department of Public Health and Human Performance, leads a personal training course. Students in SUNY Potsdam’s exercise science and biology programs can now choose from 3+3 or 4+3 completion programs to pursue their Doctor of Chiropractic degree at New York Chiropractic College.

SUNY Potsdam and New York Chiropractic College (NYCC) are pleased to announce a new educational partnership. Together, the institutions have established four new articulated program agreements to provide seamless pathways for students at SUNY Potsdam to secure their admission into NYCC's in-demand healthcare programs.

The partnership provides articulation tracks for biology and exercise science majors at SUNY Potsdam to guarantee admission in NYCC's Doctor of Chiropractic program, even as they earn their bachelor's degrees.

SUNY Potsdam is proud to partner with New York Chiropractic College. This agreement formalizes a direct pathway to further study for our students interested in chiropractic and enables an effective transition from our undergraduate programs to the NYCC Doctor of Chiropractic program, said SUNY Potsdam President Dr. Kristin G. Esterberg. The relationship between both institutions allows us to offer seamless advising and support, to ensure our students are successful and prepared for fulfilling health careers.

The 3+3 articulation track saves students the cost of one year of tuition by allowing students to earn their bachelor's degree from SUNY Potsdam and graduate degree from NYCC a full year more quickly than it would take to earn the degrees individually. The 4+3 articulation track lets students complete their degree at SUNY Potsdam and gain acceptance to NYCC when requirements are met.

With guided support from both institutions, students are also able to avoid spending time and money on unnecessary coursework and begin their path to NYCC by submitting a letter of intent, signed by their undergraduate advisor.

This is a great fit for SUNY Potsdam students, as NYCC shares a deep commitment to applied learning and clinical experience, said SUNY Potsdam Department of Public Health and Human Performance Chair Tanya Hewitt. We know that our students will progress into a program that values hands-on learning and boasts instruction from some of the top practitioners in the country.

NYCC President Dr. Michael Mestan said the College community is excited to collaborate with SUNY Potsdam and welcome its students to NYCC's healthcare programs.

Providing a path to guaranteed admission to our graduate programs is an important way we are helping open the door of academic opportunity to more students, said Dr. Mestan. By providing simplified and practical options for admission, we allow our students to better focus on their education and becoming exceptional healthcare professionals.
