SUNY Potsdam Welcomes Chuck Lorre ’74 for Free Public Talk Sept. 23

Legendary television producer Chuck Lorre ’74 will sit down with SUNY Potsdam President Dr. Suzanne R. Smith to discuss his path from SUNY Potsdam to Hollywood in an upcoming talk. The free public discussion will be offered on Monday, Sept. 23, from noon to 1 p.m., in the Helen M. Hosmer Concert Hall, located in SUNY Potsdam’s Crane School of Music.

SUNY Potsdam Dedicates Joy Rehearsal Room at The Crane School of Music

SUNY Potsdam celebrated the naming of a major ensemble rehearsal space at The Crane School of Music in a special ceremony on Friday, Sept. 13. Crane Room C119 was officially dedicated as the Joy Rehearsal Room, in honor of the generosity of Dr. Joy Anthony Douglass ’56 and her husband, Dr. Chester Douglass (Hon. ’56). The couple are longtime supporters of music education, both at Crane, and in their own community and careers.

Stewart’s Foundation Announces $125,000 Gift to SUNY Potsdam

The Stewart’s Foundation has made a major gift to elevate engagement between SUNY Potsdam students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members. The foundation has committed $125,000 over the next five years, to establish the SUNY Potsdam/Stewart’s Foundation Community and College Engagement Fund.

SUNY Potsdam Welcomes Chancellor for Visit Focused on Impact of the ACE Initiative to Remove Financial & Academic Barriers for Students

State University of New York Chancellor John B. King Jr. visited SUNY Potsdam to celebrate the expansion of a groundbreaking student success model now on campus to improve support, retention, and college completion. Thanks to the SUNY Transformation Fund championed by Governor Kathy Hochul in the 2023-24 enacted state budget, 25 SUNY campuses are replicating the ASAP and ACE programs, which have been demonstrated through randomized controlled trials to dramatically increase retention and completion.

Washington Monthly Ranks SUNY Potsdam in Top 7 Percent of American Public Master’s Universities in 2024 Rankings

Washington Monthly has ranked The State University of New York at Potsdam at No. 43 in the country in its national public master’s universities ratings, in the magazine’s 2024 College Guide. Since the rankings were first created 19 years ago, SUNY Potsdam has continually climbed the list.
