Departments are compensated for the time that liaisons devote to their duties. The department receives a $250 "maintenance" stipend for each course reviewed by the department liaison during the syllabus review process.

The Department of Environment and Sustainability places a high value on experiential education and applied learning. We strongly encourage students to engage in internships, service learning, field research, or study abroad as an integral part of their undergraduate education.

The Department of Kinesiology and Human Performance offers 3 majors (Exercise Science, Physical Education and Public Health) and six minors (Wilderness Education, Community Health, Sexual Health, Fitness, Nutrition, and Therapeutic Recreation).The Exercise Science major focuses on the scientific and applied study of the human body, including prevention of injury and performance. Using an interdisciplinary approach, students will learn the research behind and the application of sound exercise and physiology principles.

The Department of Politics aims to teach, energize, support and inspire students.The facts, theories, and skills we ask students to learn are designed to help them succeed personally, professionally, and as community members and citizens of the world.

Departmental Property Control Requirements & Responsibilities Each department must have a Department Equipment Coordinator that is responsible for equipment assigned to their department. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following;

CW Description Core Writing (CW) seminars help students improve their skills as writers and develop an effective writing process.  Students will grow as writers by building effective reading and writing toolkits. They will also reflect on their existing assumptions about writing and their writing habits. Students will think about the role writing plays in their lives and communities, as well as become familiar with the expectations of academic writing.

Designed exclusively for the SUNY Potsdam campus community, the Shane T. Shaul Fitness Center contains over 8,000 square feet of space and houses an extensive collection of state-of-the-art cardiovascular and strength training equipment, taking an innovative approach to fun and fitness.
