Foundations for Success
In the middle of the global pandemic, with COVID cases rising and falling in an unpredictable pattern around campus, Nikki Ramirez ’21 & ’23 rose to the challenge as an official contact tracer for the College. A calm voice in the seas of uncertainty, Ramirez and a cohort of eight other students, became important lifelines for their classmates.
An Appreciated Gift
Mike Galane ’74 is no stranger to giving back to SUNY Potsdam. Since graduating from the College, he has served his alma mater in countless capacities—including as the former president of the Potsdam College Foundation Board and chair of the Take the Lead Campaign. In addition to sharing his time and expertise, Mike established the Galane Family Scholarship, which is awarded to computer science majors each year at SUNY Potsdam.
Under Healing Sky
Mike Yuhnke ’12 just needed to find the path.
Joey Boswell '18
As a military veteran, Joey Boswell ’18 found SUNY Potsdam later in life—a transformative decision that helped him transition from a tumultuous time in the U.S. Army. Boswell arrived in Potsdam by way of Fort Drum. Although he loved his work as a chemical, biological, radiologic, and nuclear specialist attached to an explosive ordinance battalion at Fort Drum—where his unit was tasked with removing improvised explosive devices and working with robots—he was outcast by his unit once they discovered that he was gay.
