Once a Girl Scout, always a Girl Scout is a saying that SUNY Potsdam alumna Neishja Ransom ’17 has taken to heart. After spending nine years with the Girl Scouts in her youth, Ransom is now a leader in the organization, overseeing the Girl Scouts of Greater New York’s Urban Day Camp.

It was a once-in-a-lifetime event, and the total solar eclipse did not disappoint! For 3 minutes and 10.9 seconds, SUNY Potsdam was blanketed with darkness as a ring of sunlight formed around the moon's edge during totality on Monday, April 8, 2024.

As one of 21 students working on independent research projects through the Presidential Scholars Program this year, Alexis Michael ’18, a double major in archaeology and history, took aim at an experiment that could change archaeologists’ theories about when Indigenous populations first used the bow and arrow in Eastern North America.
