Alcohol/Drug Amnesty Policy
The health and safety of every student at the State University of New York and its State-operated and community colleges is of utmost importance.
Where is Student Health Services located?
Health Services is located on the first floor of Van Housen Hall. You can schedule an appointment through your BearPAWS account under the College Life and Auxiliary Services tab. For after hours, The Urgent Care Center or the Canton-Potsdam Hospital are a short distance from campus.
Healthy Plant Initiative
The Healthy Plant Initiative uses non-toxic methods to diagnose and treat an infestation of plants housed in various offices around campus. This is done by using small slices of potato to attract larvae and yellow sticky cards to capture insects in the plant, which are then studied by students in the Biology department. Students can visit offices for consultations, and may bring plants back to the greenhouse in Stowell Hall to treat and heal.
Compositions for Nature
In the heart of the Adirondacks, the sound of music intertwines with the sound of nature. Amplified through a series of 24 speakers selectively placed along a trail winding through the woods at The Wild Center in Tupper Lake, music flows through the air in harmony with the sounds of birds, insects and wind whistling through the pine trees along the Forest Music Trail.
HEARTH
HEARTH (Hand-crafted, Experiential, Archaeological Research and Teaching Hub) HEARTH offers the opportunity for students to participate in a wide variety of research and praxis-oriented activities related to historic preservation and cultural revitalization through craft.

Forging a Unique Path
As her fellow soldiers catch some shut-eye in the middle of the night, Olivia Krytus ’26 remains alert, her eyes wide open during Fire Watch with the Army National Guard. “You see it in the movies. You can't have a base completely asleep, so there are always two guards watching. We have an hour-long shift at any point during the night,” she explained.
