Mary Catherine Sawyer ’19 landed her first job just months after graduating from SUNY Potsdam. With degrees in music education and theatre education—and extensive student teaching experiences as an undergraduate—she’s well prepared for her career as a music teacher in the Bronx, N.Y.

11 Questions for Mark Misiak - Women's Soccer Coach
Mark Misiak is heading into his eighth season as head coach for the SUNY Potsdam women’s soccer team. Misiak grew up in Ontario and spent his college years playing soccer at SUNY Plattsburgh before making his way to SUNY Potsdam to start his career as a coach. Last year, he was named the State University of New York’s Athletic Conference Coach of the Year after setting a SUNY Potsdam single-season record with 12 overall wins (five within the SUNYAC conference). Can you talk about your youth and what eventually brought you to Potsdam?

As Mark Murphy ’25 taps out line after line of code, he’s not just building a video game—he’s helping redefine how students learn biology.“It’s great. We’ve gotten to use a lot of technologies that you hear about in class—tools that software developers use in the real world," Murphy said.
