Musical examples should be clear, easy to read, and accurate; in other words, think them through carefully before you set them up. Sloppy notation and slip-shod diagrams or tables ruin even the finest research or thesis papers.
Footnotes and Endnotes
In music history, footnotes (at the bottom of each page) or endnotes (citations placed at the end of the document) are used, rather than in-text citations. Footnote numbers are consecutive, even if the source materials are repeated. In a Word docume

Myriam Butikima ’23 was studying in the Lougheed Learning Commons last fall when she received an email that offered her exactly what she needed. The email came from Kelly Crosbie ’97, SUNY Potsdam’s Scholarship Coordinator, with a congratulatory message telling Butikima that she had been awarded a donor-funded scholarship.
