Health Insurance Information

SUNY Potsdam highly recommends that all students have health insurance. There is currently no SUNY Potsdam Insurance Plan.

Here are some health insurance options available to you:

  1. Adirondack Health Institute is an independent, non-profit organization supporting hospitals, physician practices, behavioral health providers, community-based organizations, patients, and others in our region to advance equity, quality, access and affordability of health and healthcare services.
  2. The Affordable Care Act: Income eligible students can apply for free or low cost insurance at any time. Students above income limits have a January 31st deadline to apply (View eligibility for “Essential Plans” by income and household size). General cost per individual based upon income.
  3. Health Insurance Navigators know all the insurance application rules, and are a better resource than the online website. Income eligible students generally will have health insurance the same day they apply. To make an appointment with a Health Insurance Navigator, please call Community Health Center of the North Country at (315) 379-8107 and they can meet you on campus to discuss your health insurance options.
