Student Health Services

New! Pandemic Hybrid Health Appointment Options

Student Health Services (SHS) is committed to providing our students with a safe, welcoming environment providing culturally competent and inclusive healthcare. We collaborate with students to identify and meet their individual goals, identify barriers to learning and empower them to develop a personal wellness program that lays the foundation for a healthy life.

Our students will 'visit' our Nurse Practitioners, depending on their location, in person, through a tele-health platform, or utilizing both in order to provide a safe, comprehensive, individualized experience. Students will make their appointments online as usual. They are expected to call  (315) 267-2377 at the start time of their appointment whether virtual or in person and our nurses will guide them through the process so that they don't feel lost or uncertain of how our post-pandemic SHS works.

If you live on campus or in the area, you are expected to come to SHS for your appointment. When you get here please call (315) 267-2377 (if you do not have a phone, come in) and one of our nurses will guide you through the process of taking your BP, temperature, oxygen level and weight. When those things are completed, you will be directed to a privacy room and your Nurse Practitioner will call you via phone or tele-health (it is your choice). If you and your Nurse Practitioner decide together that you need an exam; we will invite you into our negative pressure exam rooms that have been set up to make your appointment as safe as possible. Please expect your healthcare provider to have full personal protective equipment (PPE) on during your exam for your safety.

If you live out of the Potsdam area, Student Health Services plans to take care of you via a phone call or tele-health. If you chose the tele-health option, a link will be sent to your Potsdam email. To start your scheduled appointment, you will call (315) 267-2377 and we will put you in touch with the Nurse Practitioner who will take care of you with the same respect and privacy as they would if you were seeing them in person. Please make sure when you are interacting with your healthcare provider that you are in a quiet, private place to enhance the secure environment on your end.

Please heed the warnings of social/physical distancing, proper cough etiquette, appropriate hand washing, and remember to refrain from touching your face. Let's all work together to maintain our health and the health of others.
