‘Potsdam Shaped Who I Am as a Clinician’
Just four years after completing his degree at SUNY Potsdam in exercise science, Luke Vitale ’20 has already received his Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from Duke University, completed three clinical rotations around the country, and has now been hired as a travel physical therapist for a sports / orthopedic clinic on the outskirts of Washington, D.C.
Measures of Success
Just a mile down the road from SUNY Potsdam, Claudia Basabakwinshi ’24 slips into her waders and carefully steps into the chilly water flowing through Parkhurst Brook. Extending what looks like a blue telescopic ski pole, she measures the water velocity with a flow meter, as her classmate Alyssa Card ’26 calculates the depth of the stream.
The Archaeologist’s Path
Just three days after walking across the Commencement stage, Sydney O'Melia ’24 was already working in the real world, applying skills from her undergraduate degree in archaeological studies.
Driven to Excellence
At just twenty years old, Victoria Sekyere ’23 has already published a book, started a non-profit organization, and is in the process of applying to law school as she wraps up her degree in criminal justice with a minor in pre-law at SUNY Potsdam.
Education
K-12 Education Those that go on to teach physical science or earth science at elementary, middle, or high school have the ability to change lives and get students excited about science. Jobs center on preparing and implementing lectures and classroom activities to teach science content and reasoning.
Kadiatou Balde '19
Kadiatou Balde was nine years old when her parents brought her and her five siblings from their home in Conakry, Guinea in West Africa to put down roots in the U.S. As the daughter of immigrant parents growing up in the Bronx, Balde found the transition to be, in her words, “pretty heavy.”
