Twenty Years in the Wild
Leadership Training in Adverse Conditions SUNY Potsdam’s wilderness education program has been cultivating student leaders for the past 20 years. Mark Simon started the program in 1996, taking what was then just a collection of physical education classes and turning it into an extensive wilderness leadership program.

The Leadership & Challenge Center's Climbing Facility is located in SUNY Potsdam's Maxcy Hall Field House. 36' Climbing Wall Real rock like surface, looks and feels like granite. Accommodates up to 6 climbers at once with over 500 holds.

Leanne Greene '18
Leanne Greene ’18 has had more than her share of setbacks on her way toward achieving her dream of being a teacher. She is a single mother of three school-aged children, which she says is “a true blessing” but has been a bit challenging at times. She recalls one day, for instance, when all three kids had a snow day, but she still had to attend her classes. “My professors were very understanding,” Greene remembers. The kids came to campus with her and quietly colored during her class. “My daughter took notes, too. She was better at it than I was,” she laughs.
