Sustainability in Action

In 2024, sustainability is taking a major leap forward at SUNY Potsdam. Food waste previously destined for the landfill will now be composted at Whitten Family Farms—and in the process the College will be saving money and making a positive impact on the environment.

2024-2025Cheryl McMartin AwardThe Cheryl McMartin Memorial Award is named in honor of one of our brightest anthropology/education certification students, who died tragically in March 1995. The award, which carries a small cash prize, honors the student who has shown commitment to teaching as evidenced by work in the department as a teaching assistant, a laboratory assistant, or tutor, or whose career plans include teaching at the university level.

In his Father’s Footsteps

With 26 bones, 30 joints and dozens of muscles, tendons and ligaments, the foot is a delicate and complex appendage that requires a specialist like Dr. Jascha Teibel ’16. The SUNY Potsdam alumnus is just four years removed from SUNY Potsdam and is already practicing medicine, and following in his father’s footsteps to be a podiatrist.
