Services

University Police are responsible for various services. Security of Buildings and Grounds Security and access to on-campus facilities is controlled by key access. The University Police and the Physical Plant Department monitor all access to the campus facilities.

How do I contact University Police?

University Police is located on the first floor of Van Housen Hall Extension. On campus, we can be reached by dialing 2222 from any college phone or by activating any of the 27 emergency blue phones located throughout the campus. Off campus, we can reached by dialing (315) 267-2222.

The University Police Department at SUNY Potsdam is an accredited Police Department through the NYS  Department of Criminal Justice Services (DJCS) Law Enforcement Agency Accreditation Council.  University Police is located on the first floor of the Van Housen Hall Extension.

Visitor/Temporary Parking Permits

The University Police Department will issue temporary and visitor parking permits to visitors, staff, and students when needed. There a three different types of temporary/visitor permits:1. Visitor Permits (white permits)

Unlike the slowly developing rock formations that she studies with her students, Dr. Page Quinton has moved mountains since she started at SUNY Potsdam—infusing the campus with her passion for teaching as she launches new applied learning initiatives in and out of the classroom.

Unrecognized Organizations

Unrecognized organizations are not recognized by SUNY Potsdam or another College.  There are three main reasons that a group might be unrecognized: (1) a sanction has been issued that removed its recognition, (2) the group, or its national, removed its own recognition status, or (3) the group developed underground without following required college polices.

Upcoming Event: 2025 DEI Symposium"Advancing Equitable & Inclusive Practice on the College Campus"October 16 - October 17, 2025The 2025 DEI Symposium will be a gathering of faculty, and staff representing the Potsdam Campus Community. The program will provide participants with a platform for critical dialogue on existing opportunities for strengthening the impact of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion initiatives and the integrated practice of Equity in higher education and the college campus.
