Fire Safety Violations in Office Spaces
Top Ten ViolationsUnfused multi-plug, cube adapters and power strips are prohibited. Multi-plugs and power strips must have overcurrent protection, plugged directly into electrical receptacles and not combined with any other power strips, extension cords or other multi-plug adapters. Power strips should not be used for refrigerator or microwave power sources.
Fire Safety Violations in Dormitory Rooms
Top Ten ViolationsLamps need to be equipped with lamp shades and light bulbs of the appropriate wattage for the fixture. Only lamps which are UL (Underwriters Laboratories) listed should be utilized which are marked with the maximum wattage bulb that can be used. Halogen lamps are prohibited.

Transgender Care Resources
SUNY Potsdam provides comprehensive transgender health care to our students who want to begin hormone therapy and for those students who are already receiving hormones. Students can expect that they will meet with our nurse practitioner on a regular basis throughout the semester.
Protecting the Endangered
Traveling up and down the east coast, and through the Gulf of Mexico, Brogin Van Skoik ’11 puts his extensive biology training to the test. Working as an endangered species observer on a large dredging vessel, the SUNY Potsdam alumnus carefully monitors the human impact on a precious assortment of turtles, fish, and whales—halting dredging operations at a moment’s notice if too many species are harmed by the shipping operations.
