Commencement Emergency Weather Plan
Every effort will be made to keep the commencement ceremony outside, even if there is inclement weather. We will make a decision on whether to move Commencement indoors no later than 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, in the event of severe or extreme weather (such as lightning). If the indoor plan is implemented, an email will be sent to all graduates, and an announcement will be made in local media outlets and on this website.
Atlatl Team
Every fall, students from our department compete against opponents from other local colleges in the annual Atlatl Battle, which has competitors throwing darts at targets with ancient spear throwers known as atlatls. Dozens of students regularly practice for the competition in the season leading up to the event, which often takes place on Family Weekend. The atlatl team continues to offer a fun way for our students to bond, for faculty to interact with students outside of the classroom, and for our students to learn more about ancient forms of technology.
