Othman Ladan ’19

More than anything, Othman Ladan ’19, a community health major, cares deeply about helping people, a devotion that is bolstered by his Muslim faith. Originally from Ghana, Ladan spent the summer before his senior year back in his home country to educate Muslim women about breast cancer and oversee a breast cancer screening event for hundreds of people—a significant achievement considering Islamic religious restrictions.

The Unlikely Beat

For most of her life, writing was simply how Maria Aldrich '22 made sense of the world—a way to recount her climbing adventures, reflect on her work experiences, or process the unexpected turns life kept throwing at her—but she never imagined it would become her career. Today, the SUNY Potsdam exercise science graduate covers Major League Baseball and professional sports for national outlets including Last Word on Sports and Heavy Sports, while recently expanding into celebrity news writing for Entertainment Now.

M.S.Ed., Literacy

The M.S.Ed. Literacy program is a fully online, 30-credit hour program that prepares candidates to serve in the field of literacy education. For recent revision to the program, please contact Carolyn Stone at stonecs@potsdam.edu. In accordance with New York State certification regulations, Literacy Program applicants must have preparation in general education.
