In early November, a representative from the U.S. Capitol Police made the trip north to get eyes on the academy in action, and let its leadership know that Potsdam is top of mind when the agency goes afield in search of promising candidates to fill roles in Washington, D.C.

Potsdam Rave Alert is the College's emergency alert system, capable of delivering messages to your SUNY Potsdam and personal email addresses, as well as your cell phone and land lines. This system will be used for weather delays and campus alerts.
Tiny Bugs, Big Trouble
Potsdam researchers study an insect imperiling New York forestsAs the emerald ash borer eats its way through Northern New York forests, SUNY Potsdam’s Dr. Jess (Rogers) Pearson and her team are getting out ahead with tools to understand and hopefully curtail the threat. Funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the team has released parasitoids that attack the borer at multiple experiment sites in St. Lawrence County.
Severe Weather Information
Potsdam sometimes experiences severe weather conditions, most notably during the winter months, when heavy snowfall and icy roads can be a safety concern. In general, as a residential campus, SUNY Potsdam tries to maintain classes and services as fully operational as possible.
