Raising the Bar
As a preamble for her education and career, Sara Behuniak ’14 found herself playing the role of a lead defense attorney in high school. A reading of Truman Capote’s “In Cold Blood” set the stage for a mock courtroom trial as Behuniak and her classmates brought the pages of Capote’s non-fiction masterpiece to life—and in doing so, she found her true calling. “I loved it. It took that one class before I was hooked and I knew I wanted to be a lawyer,” Behuniak recalled.
Enrollment Options
The pre-employment police basic training course hosted by the Law Enforcement Training Institute at SUNY Potsdam has a maximum availability of 24 students per Spring semester. There are three ways to enroll in the institute's program:

Remembering 1776
In preparation for the 250th anniversary of American Independence, six SUNY Potsdam students have been completing hands-on internships this summer around New York State—delving into local history projects to examine the founding of the country, while also helping local historians plan for upcoming semiquincentennial celebrations.
