Alex Raynor '11
Bundled up from head to toe and sporting a blue SUNY Potsdam wilderness education jacket, alumnus Alex Raynor ’11 swings two ice axes through the air while ascending a wall of ice at Azure Mountain, just 48 miles from Potsdam. The spikes from his ice axes and his crampons sink into the ice with ease as he moves up the vertical wall like Spiderman.
Arts Management in the Real World
Business savvy students pursuing a degree in arts management are gaining valuable hands-on experience this semester at organizations around the North Country—impactful capstone internships that allow them to take what they’ve learned in the classroom out into the real world.
A Soft, Sweet and Beautiful Legacy
The C123 rehearsal room within SUNY Potsdam’s Crane School of Music radiated with warmth each Monday, Wednesday and Friday as members of Phoenix Club filed in. This atmosphere was not due to the number of musicians in the room, nor the reading of the thermostat, but the joy that effused from Associate Professor Emerita Dr. Rebecca Reames’s smile.
Camille Holmes '19
Camille Holmes ’19 comes from a long line of strong women. Her grandmother, Dorothy Holmes, in particular, was a pioneer, blazing the way for other women in the field of science. Holmes grew up with her encouragement and support, spending much of her childhood at her grandparents’ farm caring for horses, helping at their veterinary clinic and developing a love for animals—something that she’s still passionate about today after getting a degree in biology from SUNY Potsdam and while now pursuing a Ph.D. in immunology and infectious disease at Cornell University.
