Axel Fair-Schulz
SUNY Potsdam Associate Professor of History Dr. Axel Fair-Schulz grew up in East Germany during the Cold War and traveled to many Eastern bloc countries during his youth. His adolescent experience spent behind the Iron Curtain—so different than that of many of his American-born professors and students—gives him a unique outlook on the world, and especially on European history.
Michael Popovic
SUNY Potsdam Instructor Michael Popovic’s interest in the field of international studies stemmed from a very personal connection to the atrocities of war. Born to a German mother and Croatian father, he witnessed the genocide and violence that occurred during the breakup of Yugoslavia in the 1990s—an experience that he speaks about passionately with his students today.
