MST: Childhood Education
The Master of Science for Teachers in Childhood Education program is 100% online and is recognized and accredited nationally by CAEP, the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (formerly NCATE, the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education).
B.A.: Childhood/Early Childhood Education
This B.A. in Childhood/Early Childhood Education is a combined major designed to allow students to earn an undergraduate degree leading to two initial NYS certifications; Birth to Grade 2 and Grades 1 to Grade 6.
Minor: Classical Studies
The minor in Classical Studies is an interdisciplinary program that encourages undergraduates in various disciplines to come to an integrated awareness of the ancient cultures of Greece, Rome, the Mediterranean and the classical tradition that underlies much of modern civilization.
Minor: Communication
The Speech Communication Minor provides a liberal arts orientation to the study of human communication.
Minor: Community Health
The Community Health Minor is designed for students who wish to add specific health knowledge and skills to another major.
Minor: Computer Science
The Computer Science minor is appropriate if you wish to combine coursework in computer science with a major in a closely related area.
B.A./B.S.: Computer Science
We offer two Computer Science bachelor degree options (B.A. or B.S.) and a minor.
B.F.A.: Creative Writing
The B.F.A. in Creative Writing is a pre-professional degree that offers students intensive training in the writing of fiction, poetry, drama, creative nonfiction, and screenplays.
Minor: Criminal Justice Studies
The Criminal Justice Studies minor enhances potential and background for career-entry employment in one of the subsystems of the criminal justice system, e.g., adult or juvenile corrections, law enforcement and security.
B.A.: Criminal Justice Studies
Criminal Justice Studies is the study of the criminal justice system: the perpetrators, agencies and actors involved in the processing and definition of crime, and the social, political and economic phenomena impacting each.
MSED: Curriculum and Instruction
This program is designed to meet the needs and interests of all education professionals. This includes those seeking professional NYS certification, as well as those interested in curriculum design and pedagogy, applied in non-classroom contexts.
Minor: Dance
The dance minor focuses on technique and requires Modern Dance II, III and IV. Three elective courses allow deeper work on technique or exploration into composition or other areas.
Minor: Design and Production
The Design and Production Minor has two tracks, for Non-Theatre Majors and for Theatre Majors.
Minor: Design and Technical Theatre
The Design and Technical Theatre Minor consists of a concentration of courses in the craft, theory, and art of design and technical theatre.
Minor: Disability Studies
The Disability Studies Minor at SUNY Potsdam provides an interdisciplinary, interdepartmental approach to the study of disability. Based on the social model of disability, this program introduces students to a nuanced concept of the social construction of disability and explores issues in disability studies through multiple departments and programs of study.
