SUNY Potsdam Now Accepting Applications for Walker Fellowship
The Office of the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs at SUNY Potsdam is pleased to announce the continuation of the T. Urling and Mabel Walker Research Fellowship Program for 2023. The purpose of this program is to encourage faculty from the region’s 11 institutions of higher education to undertake research on critical issues confronting North Country communities, and to make recommendations for possible solutions.

SUNY Potsdam Offers Free Planetarium Shows and Seismology Workshops Again This Spring
SUNY Potsdam Geology Professor Emeritus Dr. Frank Revetta, Hon. ’05, will offer two free educational series again this spring—including his popular planetarium shows and a series of seismology workshops. This is the 55th year that Dr. Revetta has led planetarium shows and taught seismology at the College. In recognition of his dedicated service, SUNY Potsdam dedicated the planetarium in his honor last year.
Crane School of Music Students Set to Perform at New York State Martin Luther King Day Observance
Six students from SUNY Potsdam’s Crane School of Music have been invited to perform at the 2019 New York State Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Observances in Albany on Monday, Jan. 21. The Giroux Honors Jazz Combo will perform an original work by undergraduate composers Thomas Avella ’19 and Skye Hamilton-Carranza ’19 during the ceremony. The piece, titled “Ascension (When I Rise Up),” is based upon a poem by Harlem Renaissance poet Georgia Douglas Johnson.
SUNY Potsdam Opens National Education Foundation International Training Center
SUNY Potsdam’s Department of Business Administration recently received a $20,000 grant from the National Education Foundation (NEF) to open a training center that supports international skill development. This contribution is part of $900,000 in support for STEM education and skill development that the NEF has provided through collaboration with SUNY Potsdam since 2012.

The Office of the Provost invites nominations for the prestigious titles of Distinguished Faculty Rank, which are the highest ranks conferred by the system in recognition of outstanding professional achievements by SUNY’s most accomplished faculty. Appointees are inducted into the SUNY Distinguished Academy, leveraging their expertise in support of SUNY’s mission and strategic priorities.
