This award is for the purpose of recognizing an alumnus/a on extraordinary commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in their workplace and/or community. The award will honor a Crane School of Music graduate who has demonstrated the following areas of service:
Helen Hosmer Excellence in Music Teaching Award
This award is for the purpose of recognizing outstanding professional achievement in the teaching of music. The award will honor a Crane School of Music graduate who is currently active in, or retired from public school music education and who has demonstrated exemplary service in any of the areas of choral, instrumental, or general music education.Presentation of the award will take place each year at Reunion in July. The nomination deadline is December 1st.
Geologic Licensure
The Bachelor of Science degree in Geology at SUNY Potsdam is registered as a Licensure-Qualifying Geology Program with the New York State Education Department and is designed for those who wish to earn a graduate degree in geology or to immediately pursue a career in geology. Although the Bachelor of Arts degree in Geology is not registered as a Licensure-Qualifying Geology Program with the New York State Education Department, it contains all of the same and contains the same core classes as the Geology B.S. degree. Rebecca Scholldorf ’15
Back when she was still a sophomore at SUNY Potsdam, alumna Rebecca Scholldorf ’15, a clarinet performance major at The Crane School of Music, decided to pursue a second degree in music business. It proved to be one of the best decisions of her life. “I like finding out how things are made and the logistical side of things, so I decided to take advantage of the music business program at Crane, that I heard was so incredible,” Scholldorf said. “It seemed like a really fun avenue that I could balance with performance.”

Optimizing Pulsed Electromagnetic Fields to Promote Wound Healing in the Elderly
BackgroundHospital-and nursing home-acquired injuries adversely impact a patient’s mental, physical, social and emotional wellbeing, as well as those of immediate family. We intend to systematically modify the key physical parameters of pulsed electromagnetic fields (PEMFs) to “tune” a device to initiate/sustain blood vessel growth. Waveforms will be evaluated using a chick chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) assay, the most widely used in vivo model for investigating blood vessel growth.
