Final Exam Schedule

A final examination is a comprehensive written test administered at the end of a course. It is designed to assess a student's knowledge of and familiarity with all, or a substantial part, of the content and/or skills associated with a given course in a given semester.

At the conclusion of every semester, a two-hour period is arranged for each class to provide time for summation and evaluation. Except as specified below, a final examination may be administered only at this arranged two-hour period. No written examination may be given during the last week of classes unless a final examination is also scheduled during the regular final examination period.

The hours scheduled for final exams are included in the total semester hours necessary to be in compliance with the State regulations regarding hours in class and course credits. Therefore, classes must be held during final exam time. Instructors may use this time for other course activities.

No student will be required to take more than two examinations in one day. If a student has more than two examinations scheduled in one day, the middle examination(s) must be rescheduled if the student requests. A student must request rescheduling two weeks before the last day of classes. This request must be in writing and must be filed with the professor with copies to the department chair and the dean of the school(s) under whose jurisdiction the courses(s) in question is (are) offered. The appropriate dean has the final responsibility for the rescheduling of the examination(s). The rescheduled examination(s) must normally occur at a time during the final examination week.

1. Monday combinations refer to M TU W TH F, M TU TH, M W F, M W, M, W F, W, and F.
2. Tuesday/Thursday combinations refer to TU TH, TU W, TU, and TH.
3. Examinations in undergraduate and graduate classes which begin within the hour will fall in the same period as the examinations for those classes that begin on the hour.
4. Certain courses with multiple sections are assigned specific times.
